Sorbalux® ABD Sterile Absorbent Abdominal Pad Bandage (ABD) Abdominal gauze pads are medical supplies used to cover heavily draining wounds. Once used by the military ABD is an acronym for "Army Battle Dressing." ABD pads have an absorbent cellulose inner layer core helps to keep the wound area dry, and the soft, nonwoven outer layer is for patient comfort. Not made with natural rubber latex and are intended to be applied directly to the wound.
Sorbalux® ABD Sterile Absorbent Abdominal Pad Bandages can be used to absorb drainage, protect the wound from further irritation, and provide a barrier between the wound and clothing or other materials.
ABD pads serve as an ideal dressing choice, whether as a primary layer or a secondary layer over a primary dressing, such as a Transparent film or Alginate in instances of high exudation or when extra absorption is needed.
ABD pads often lack an adhesive border. To keep them in the desired position, a secondary dressing, such as a Coban wrap or rolled gauze bandage, is recommended. These medical bandages are a great choice for those with sensitive skin or allergies to adhesive.
